Important Safety Information: MENTOR® Memory Gel® Breast Implants are indicated for breast augmentation, in women who are at least 18 years old, or for breast reconstruction. Breast implant surgery should not be performed in those women with active infection anywhere in their body, those with existing cancer or pre-cancer of their breast(s), those who have not received adequate treatment for these conditions or those who are pregnant or nursing. There are risks associated with breast implant surgery. Breast implants are not lifetime devices and breast implantation is not necessarily a one-time surgery. The most common complications with MENTOR® Memory Gel® Breast Implants include re-operation, implant removal, capsular contracture, asymmetry, and breast pain. A lower risk of complication is implant rupture, which is most often silent. The health consequences of a ruptured silicone gel-filled breast implant have not been fully established. Screenings such as mammography, MRI, or ultrasound are recommended after initial implant surgery to assist in detecting implant rupture. Your patient needs to be informed and understand the risks and benefits of breast implants, and she should be provided with an opportunity to consult with you prior to deciding on surgery. For detailed indications, contraindications, warnings and precautions associated with the use of all MENTOR® Implantable Devices, please refer to the Product Insert Data Sheet provided with each product or review the Important Safety Information provided at www.mentorwwllc.eu. The most common complications for breast augmentation with Memory Gel® Implants include any reoperation, capsular contracture, nipple sensation changes, and implant removal with or without replacement. The most common complications with CPGTM Implants for breast augmentation include reoperation for any reason, implant removal with or without replacement, and ptosis. A lower risk of complication is rupture. The health consequences of a ruptured silicone gel breast implant have not been fully established. MRI screenings are recommended three years after initial implant

surgery and then every two years after to detect silent rupture. It is important that patients understand the risks associated with breast implant surgery when considering MENTOR® Breast Implants.

Since it was founded in 1980, AAAASF has pursued its mission of patient safety, by setting the highest standards for patient safety in outpatient centers worldwide. AAAASF facilitates patient safety by regularly updating its standards based on patient data and the latest medical literature and requiring facilities to continually self-assess and evolve. Since patient safety knows no borders, AAAASF programs promote global consistency, by applying requirements worldwide. Through these measures, AAAASF aims to improve the performance and safety of the facilities it accredits, and ensure such improvements are continuously maintained. AAAASF accredits and educates thousands of facilities world-wide because we believe patient safety is a human right that does not recognize borders, it is a scientific truth based on our shared humanity, it is not a luxury. Physicians, clinicians, legislators, health authorities, and patients recognize our commitment to patient safety and acknowledge that AAAASF sets the ‘Gold Standard in Accreditation’.

Today the process of globalization is inevitable and important stage in the development of all spheres of our life: cultural, economical and political. Plastic surgery is not an exception. Ukrainian plastic surgeons need to exchange experiences with the international community of plastic surgeons and must meet the requirements of modern patients regarding the quality and safety of the surgery, also to have an opportunity of presenting Ukrainian plastic surgery at international conferences. Especially this became urgent after Ukraine joined European Union Association. With this purpose was established the Ukrainian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (USAPS). This is public, non-profit organization, whose mission is the integration of Ukrainian plastic surgeons into international community that will: Improve the professional level of plastic surgeons in Ukraine Bring into the practice of Ukrainian plastic surgeons, the international treatment standards To provide maximum safety for patients The solution of these problems contributes to the USAPS President, who is elected once in two years. USAPS members become as young, as experienced progressive plastic surgeons, who constantly study and implement the most modern technologies in their practice.

The German Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (DGPRÄC) is the professional representative body and scientific society for plastic and reconstructive surgeons in Germany. It was established in 1968 as the Association of German Plastic Surgeons (VDPC) and was renamed in 2005. The Society has approximately 2000 Members. The society closely cooperates with political parties and the German Medical Association in favour of consumer protection. This cooperation resulted in the official title: “Plastic and Aesthetic Surgeon”, saving the term “aesthetic” as a brand name, which can be used by plastic surgeons only as an official speciality title. It also resulted in a new law in 2006 with a ban on advertisement for aesthetic surgery. The society holds scientific meetings, runs training courses, awards scholarships and grants and publishes the Journal “Plastische Chirurgie”. One goal of the society is to preserve Public Health by promoting and developing Plastic Surgery. A challenge of the society is to encourage all fields of plastic surgery in scientific and practical aspects. Therefore it cooperates and has a constant dialogue with other national societies of plastic and aesthetic surgeons. One further goal is to optimize the quality of the professional training as well as the post graduated training within the European guidelines and to advance education in all aspects of Plastic Surgery.

The VDAEPC (Association of German Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) is the biggest association of aesthetic plastic surgeons in Germany and was founded in 1995. The members of the VDAEPC are both resident doctors and clinicians specializing in plastic and aesthetic surgery. Our members must continue their education beyond their training to become a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery. This ensures that their specialist knowledge and practical skills remain at a consistently high and up-to-date level. The board of the VDAEPC is currently occupied by Dr. med. Steffen Handstein (President), Prof. Dr. med. Detlev Hebebrand (Vice-President), Dr. med. Alexander Schoenborn (Secretary) and Dr. med. Jacqueline Eichhorn-Sens (Treasurer).

CSAS currently has 110 members. All members are plastic surgeons. Only plastic surgeons can be members of the society. In cooperation with ISAPS we have organized 4 ISAPS VPP. The guests were F. Nahas, J Hunstad, J. Erfon Ramos and M. Pelle-Ceravolo. The chairman of the CSAS is M.D. Vladimir Marik.
